Fit Oshkosh, Inc., an organization dedicated to improving racial equality and building a welcoming and inclusive community, is partnering with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension, Prospera Credit Union, and an anonymous donor to open a coworking space for area entrepreneurs, according to a press release.
The coworking space will be located at the Fit Oshkosh office, 36 Broad Street in Oshkosh, and open during the following hours:
- Wednesday, September 4, 4 – 8 pm
- Thursday, September 5, 8 am – noon
- Friday, September 6, 8 am – noon
Entrepreneurs are invited to bring their own computers or use the provided equipment to access wireless internet, printer, and other office supplies needed in their work. Light snacks and beverages will also be provided.
“Connecting with other solopreneurs and business owners is vitally important, especially for People of Color in the Fox Valley,” said Fit Oshkosh co-founder and CEO Tracey Robertson. “Additionally, entrepreneurs of color are less resourced and less likely to have disposable income available to spend on computers or other start up essentials. This Coworking Space will offer individuals access to both – supportive people and necessary equipment – for free.”
Thanks to the fiscal sponsorship of Prospera Credit Union and an anonymous individual donor, a paid staff person – who is also an entrepreneur – will be on hand to orient visitors to the location, equipment, and to make introductions to area business development professionals, such as UW-Madison, Division of Extension Educator Mia Ljung, who will also be present at times throughout the week.
“My business development colleagues and I see what an impact business owners of color are having on the Fox Valley economy. I am eager to meet more of you and meaningfully support your business success,” said Ljung.
Businesses and individuals who would like to sponsor future weeks of the coworking space are invited to contact Fit Oshkosh as soon as possible. Sponsorship will extend the open hours of the Coworking Space and fund new or gently used computers, laptops, printers, and accessories, and food and beverage donations.
There is no cost to use the coworking space, and no RSVP is necessary. Details are available online at www.facebook.com/RPOCBA or by calling Fit Oshkosh at 920-267-8687.
