For the 11th consecutive year, Ebony Vision will present its Annual Juneteenth Celebration this Saturday, June 1, 2019, from 11 am-5pm at Buttermilk Creek Park, 700 S. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac.
The community can join Ebony Vision to experience a family-friendly day of live entertainment, children’s activities, soul food, games, raffles, and more with some good folks and vendors from the community. The event is free and open to the public.
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.
“If we do not tell our story, it will not be told,” says Lorraine Jones, a yearly Juneteenth attendee. “It is important that we do the telling to ensure that it is told, and told correctly. This event tells our story correctly.”
Ebony Vision is a nonprofit organization and made up of a diverse group of community residents that is reflective of the overall Fond du Lac Community. Its mission is to impact and improve the Fond du Lac Community and surrounding areas through unified efforts and education and enhance the African American Culture to impact and improve the Fond du Lac Community and surrounding areas through unified efforts that educate and enhance the African American culture.
