Governor Tony Evers today said he has no plans to order people to stay home, as California, New York and Illinois have done.

“I believe we’ll be able to avoid that,” Evers said in a conference call with reporters Friday. “The people of Wisconsin are taking this seriously. What we have going is working and will continue to work.”

Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary-designee Andrea Palm said there are currently 206 positive cases of coronavirus in the state, up from 155 on Thursday — a 32 percent increase. Three have died from the disease.

Dane County now has 32 confirmed cases, up from 27 yesterday. Milwaukee County increased from 62 to 85 overnight.

“This has been hard, and I’m sorry to say we do expect the situation to worsen,” Palm said.

This story will be updated with additional information from the Governor’s daily press briefing.
