Senator Cory Booker Announces White House Run

US Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) is the latest to join a crowded field of Democrats to run for the party’s nomination in 2020.

Booker announced the campaign in a video message Friday morning.

“We are better when we help each other,” Booker says in a video message. “I believe that we can build a country where no one is forgotten, no one is left behind; where parents can put food on the table; where there are good paying jobs with good benefits in every neighborhood; where our criminal justice system keeps us safe, instead of shuffling more children into cages and coffins; where we see the faces of our leaders on television and feel pride, not shame.”

The primary field is already the most diverse ever, as Booker joins several other people of color to announce. US Senator Kamala Harris, US Rep Tulsi Gabbard and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro have already entered the race, along with Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, US Rep John Delaney and South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg.
