UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt on Friday issued a statement welcoming the return of Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Cheryl Green, who has been serving as Interim Chancellor at UW-Whitewater since January 1.
“It will be a joy to serve alongside Dr. Green again, and I invite you to share your gratitude for her service to this university, UW-Whitewater and the UW System,” Leavitt said in the statement. “At UWO, her vision and dedication as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs have helped strengthen students’ experiences and innovate enrollment management strategies. This continues to benefit the entire three-campus university. Our institution is on a steady, positive trajectory thanks to her contributions.”
UW System announced yesterday that Dwight Watson had been named permanent chancellor at UW-Whitewater.
Green joined the administration at UW-Oshkosh in May 2017. Green came to UW Oshkosh from Tennessee State University where since 2012 she served as assistant vice president of student affairs. She also served as the interim chief student affairs officer for one year at Tennessee State, reporting directly to the university president.
Green has a Ph.D. and master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Southern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Manchester College (now Manchester University) in Indiana. She also holds a National Incident Management System certificate from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Institute, has been trained in crisis intervention, and is recognized as an expert in grievance mediation and conflict resolution.
